Spisak Dance Academy was founded in Wickenburg, in 1960 by Ann
Spisak, a professional dancer, wanting to provide a dance
education for her two daughters. The rest, as they say, is
history!
SDA has been educating dancers for 48 years! The
recreational dancer, the career-minded or college bound student,
adults wanting to continue their training and anyone who just
wants to dance for fun - these are the students of Spisak Dance
Academy!
The thousands of children that have been in our classes have
achieved personal as well as professional goals. Our
former students are working professionally in every aspect of
the entertainment industry. We are proud of our
traditional curriculum that offers the core dance subjects
of ballet, tap, jazz, and acrobatics, along with the current
lyrical , HIP HOP, and contemporary styles.
The Jataba Dance Troupe, a separate non-profit entity from
Spisak Dance Academy , has produced The Nutcracker Ballet since
1980 and makes its home at SDA. It provides scholarships
to its members to attend workshops, master classes, national
conventions, and cultural events.
We are now teaching the children and grandchildren of our former
students! From the small, screened-in back porch of the
cement house in Wickenburg, to the 7500 square foot facility we
now enjoy, we are truly blessed to be able to continue to share
the love of dance to all who walk through our doors.
